Welcome to the Office of Black Catholic Ministries

The Office of Black Catholic Ministries identifies and fosters the rich diversity of the Black Catholic community in general, and particularly, in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Its mission is to evangelize, highlight, enhance, and celebrate the contributions of the Black Catholic community as it shares its gifts in the Church and society. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the office promotes and advocates for equality in education, social justice, and pastoral ministries throughout the Church and the community. It strives towards equal participation for all by raising consciousness in the administrative offices of the Archdiocese, while offering advice to the Archbishop in matters concerning the Black Catholic Community.

HOT TIME IN THE SUMMERTIME

GREAT SUMMERTIME OPPORTUNITIES

Most people look at the coming of summer as a time for things to slow down, vacations and a time to reassess life.  This summer brings to the Archdiocese of New Orleans a season filled with excitement and things to do from attending the Lyle Conference, participating in Xavier University's Institute of Black Catholic Studies, collaboration and fellowship at the Priests, Deacons and Seminarians Conferences, to celebrating 100 years of ministry and service with the Knights of Peter Claver.  The summer offers everyone in the Church and in the community an opportunity for education, edification, and the commemoration of excellence as we acknowledge the gift of our blackness in and to the Church.  Check it out for yourself; take time to be a part of something great.
